On Sunday Aug 22 USfalcon and USO of NC will sponsor the Service Member Hospitality Area at the 17th Annual Jimmy V Celebrity Golf Classic. September 2, 2010            Durham Bulls Game Box Seats for Military

ASC/ Volvo Rents have sponsored a box at the Durham Bulls military appreciation game for 20 service member and their families.  Military guests can come enjoy a night at the ballpark and be recognized for their service.  The USO of NC will be recognized for their support or our service men and women and their families.

September 11, 2010          RDU Center 6^th Annual Freedom Ride

The USO of NC RDU center will bring together bikers from the Triangle area to ride to support our troops.  Bikers leave from Ray Price Harley Davidson and return after a 3 hour ride to a BBQ lunch.  All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the USO of NC RDU center.

October 1, 2010                 RDU Center Salute to Freedom Gala

The 6^th Annual Salute to Freedom Gala is a black tie event that honors a service member from each branch of our Armed Forces.  The event is held at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, NC and the proceeds benefit the USO of NC RDU center.

October 16, 2010               Lake Norman/Huntersville Rotary Club’s 12^th Annual Wine Spectacular

This annual event put on by the Lake Norman/Huntersville Rotary Club benefits several charities in the Charlotte community.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the USO of NC Charlotte Center.

The USO of NC will be at the NASCAR 500 with the Mobile Unit.

October 21, 2010               Charlotte Center Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

The USO of NC Charlotte Center will celebrate its volunteers and all they give at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.

October 21, 2010               Beirut Veteran’s Memorial Reception

Each year the Beirut Veteran’s of America hold a ceremony at the Beirut Memorial on Camp Johnson. Once the ceremony at the Memorial is over, hundreds of people gather at the USO of NC Jacksonville Center to visit with each other, listen to guest speakers, and to honor the memories of the victims of the bombing.

November 5, 2010             Carolinas Freedom Foundation Breakfast

This annual event kicks off all of Charlotte’s Veteran’s Day activities.  Carolinas Freedom Foundation features guest performers and honors those who have served our country in the Armed Forces.

November 6, 2010             “Salute to Veterans” Parade

This annual event sponsored by the Carolinas Freedom Foundation, coincides with Veterans Day and the Carolinas Freedom Foundations’ Freedom Breakfast. The event showcases local middle and high school bands, the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program units, active military units, antique cars and veteran organizations.  The USO of NC Charlotte Center will participate again this year with the Mobile Unit.

November 6, 2010             Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony

The city of Raleigh will hold their annual Veterans Day Parade and ceremony in downtown Raleigh.  The USO of NC RDU Center will participate having volunteers, veterans and staff riding in vehicles and walking in the parade.

November 6, 2010             Veteran’s Day Parade

The USO of NC Fort Bragg Center provides 3 rides in the parade in downtown Fayetteville which will take place at 11am: the Ferrell Gas Camouflage USO of NC truck as well as two corvettes driven by USO of NC volunteer veterans.

November 11, 2010            On-Deck Golf Tournament

The USO of NC, Charlotte Center is partnering with the On-Deck Baseball for their annual golf tournament at Raintree Country Club.

November 15, 2010           Veteran’s Day Parade

The USO of NC Jacksonville Center will participate in the parade with a float provided by the Chamber of Commerce and pulled by National Dodge Sponsored vehicle. The line up for the parade will start at 8:00 am and will last until noon. The starting point of the parade will be at the Coastal Carolina University Campus on Western Blvd. and will end at Marine Blvd.

November 11, 2010           Carolinas Freedom Foundation Wreath Laying Ceremony

In a solemn ceremony, the Carolinas Freedom Foundation conducts a wreath laying ceremony to correspond with the signing of the WWI Armistice or end of the War, which was held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Today, this ceremony honors veterans of all wars who died defending America.

November 13, 2010           Patriot Gala 

The Patriot Gala, an event that raises funds for nonprofit organizations and programs that are concerned with the immediate welfare, care and support of military troops who are wounded in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. The money raised each year goes to support wounded warrior programs here in the Carolinas and nationally with the USO of North Carolina, the Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House Foundation, Hope for the Warriors, Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes and American Legion 270’s Angels of Mercy and Angels in Iraq.

November 25, 2010           Charlotte Center Thanksgiving Feast

The USO of NC Charlotte Center serves an average of 250 people on Thanksgiving Day as they travel through the Charlotte Airport.  St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church donates the turkey, dressing and all the fixings for the troops and their families to enjoy.

December 4, 2010             North Carolina National Guard Holiday Party

The USO of NC RDU center will be on hand with the NC Joint Forces HQ providing a visit from and photos with Santa as well as filled holiday stockings. For all children there will be a holiday craft area, a cakewalk, a comfortable holiday reading area, and massages for the adults.

December 11, 2010           Charlotte Center Breakfast with Santa

This USO of NC Charlotte Center annual event brings children of military families from the Charlotte area together for breakfast and the opportunity to sit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

December 16, 2010           Victory Block Leave

Each year, the USO of NC Charlotte Center welcomes approximately 1,800 soldiers from Fort Jackson as they head home through Charlotte for the holidays.

December 18, 2010           Jacksonville Center Breakfast with Santa 

Active duty members and their children are served a full, hot meal before each child has a turn sitting on Santa’s lap and receiving a special gift at the USO of NC Jacksonville Center.

December 23, 2010           Jacksonville Center Operation Cookie Packing Party

Volunteers get together at the USO of NC Jacksonville Center to help pack cookies for Operation Cookie Drop.

December 24, 2010           Fort Bragg Center Operation Cookie Drop 

Local businesses and volunteers get together at the USO of NC Fort Bragg Center to bake or buy cookies that are delivered to the service members on Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base that have to stand duty on Christmas Eve.

December 24, 2010           Jacksonville Center Operation Cookie Drop

Local businesses and volunteers get together to bake or buy cookies that are delivered by the USO of NC Jacksonville Center to the service members on Camp Lejeune, Camp Johnson, Camp Geiger, New River Air Station, MARSOC on Stone Bay, Camp Devil Dog, Cherry Point, and Bogue Airfield that are standing duty on Christmas Eve.

December 25, 2010           Jacksonville Center Christmas Dinner 

The USO of NC Jacksonville Center provides a traditional Christmas meal for active duty service members, dependents, and retirees is prepared and served by retired service members and volunteers.
